We tread lightly around you. Big egos. Fiercely independent. You can’t really do much by yourself, but you want to do it all. One of us needs to be around to feed and bathe, or at least watch someone feed and bathe you, watch you struggle through your day. Our job is to enable you. No one is allowed to tell you, you cannot. Everyday brings a new normal. Your optimism outshines everything. It always has. I don’t remember days without you in them. You rarely smile but when you do, it fills up the room, fills me up.
He is just like you and one day, long after your daughters and her daughter is gone, he will again come full circle to be just like you.
